-The scholarship is open to new first-time PSU international undergraduate students (freshman) and transfer students only.

-Minimum 2.5 GPA on a scale of 4.00 scale.

Study English in the USA scholarship 

  • Awards are based on the application for admission on a first-come basis for new students

  • Scholarships are limited and are contingent upon funding available at the time

Up to $1,000 (one-time)

International Advocate Scholarship

  • It is a service-based scholarship. 

  • This scholarship is NOT available to incoming international students. Only international students who have completed one regular semester at Pittsburgh State University with a CGPA of 3.25 may apply for this scholarship.

P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship

  • The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund is a program that provides scholarships for selected women from other countries for graduate study in the United States.

Visa Requirements for International Students at Pittsburgh

Here are the visa requirements for international students. At Pittsburgh State University, you are required to Stay in status on an F-1 visa or J-1 visa.  

Students can maintain their legal F-1 status by doing the following: 

  • Students must go to the school they are allowed to attend according to their visa and I-20. When entering the U.S. for the first time, the school listed on the visa and I-20 must match. After entering the U.S., students need to report to that school.

  • Students should plan to attend the school on their I-20 and visa. They must check in with the Designated School Official (DSO) to register their SEVIS record on time. DSOs need to register new students in SEVIS within 30 days of the Program Start Date and continuing students within 30 days of the Next Session Start Date. DSOs get this information during orientation for new students and from course enrollment records for continuing students.

  • Students must take a full course load every semester. This generally means enrolling in at least 12 credit hours for undergraduates or 9 credit hours for graduates.

To maintain a J-1 status you are required to keep the following things in mind: 

  • Keep your passport valid at all times.

  • Carry your I-94 at all times.

  • Carry health insurance throughout your entire J-1 program for yourself and any J-2 dependents.

  • Only engage in the program as described in section 4 of your DS-2019.

  • Enroll at the school as indicated on your DS-2019 within 30 days of the report date on the DS-2019 (section 3) and within 20 days of the start of classes every semester thereafter.

  • Maintain and complete a full course of study each academic term except during official school breaks and annual vacations.

  • Before withdrawing from a course, or under-enrolling for an allowable reason such as a medical problem or the final term of a degree, obtain approval from your Responsible Officer / Alternative Responsible Officer.
