Audio Transcript
Speaker A: Have you heard about the new 24-hour access to the multimedia lab?
Speaker B: Yes, I have. I think it's a fantastic idea. It will really help students like me who have busy schedules during the day.
Speaker A: I see your point, but I'm not sure it's necessary. Most students manage to get their work done during regular hours.
Speaker B: But not everyone can fit their work into those hours. Some of us have jobs or other commitments. This change gives us more flexibility.
Speaker A: I suppose, but I'm concerned about the security aspect. Even with a new system, it might not be safe at night.
Speaker B: The university is implementing a new security system, so I think they've considered that. Plus, it’s important for students to have access when they need it.
Speaker A: I still think it might be an unnecessary expense. The university could use those funds elsewhere.
Speaker B: I disagree. Investing in student resources is always a good use of funds. It shows the university is committed to supporting us.
Speaker A: Well, I guess we'll see how it works out. Hopefully, it benefits everyone.
Speaker B: Yes, let's hope so. I'm looking forward to having more time to work on my projects.
Directions: Once the lecture concludes, the picture of the two students will be replaced by a screen instructing you to prepare to answer the question. Subsequently, the following question will appear on the screen and will be read aloud by a narrator.

Rater’s Comment:
The response earns a Score 1 due to significant language errors, delivery issues, and content development problems. Language errors include subject-verb agreement mistakes, such as "She say it helps" and "she think it will be safe." Filler words like "um" and "uh" are pervasive, e.g., "The woman, um, she thinks," causing unnatural pauses and disrupting speech clarity. The response is choppy and lacks fluidity, with frequent hesitations. Content development is weak, with repeated ideas like "it gives more flexibility" and missing support points, such as how the policy improves academic experience. Transitions are weak, and the response lacks coherence. To score higher, the speaker should focus on reducing filler words, improving grammatical accuracy, and providing more detailed and organised content. Practising fluid delivery and clear articulation would also enhance the response.
