Preparing for TOEFL iBT® can be hard if you are a non-native speaker of English but always dreamt of studying in an English-speaking country. But by understanding the format and incorporating the right strategy your goal might be easily attained. 

In this article, we have curated a 30-day study plan that includes daily TOEFL Listening Exercises for you to uplift your overall TOEFL performance. Additionally, You’ll find the test structure for TOEFL and methods to ace your overall TOEFL performance.   ` 

TOEFL TEST Structure 

Here is the TOEFL test structure. This table will help you understand the pattern of the TOEFL exam:

Listening 

  • 41 minutes (5 recordings) or 57 minutes (7 recordings) 

  • 5 recordings hoard 3 lectures and conversations

  • 7 recordings will have 4 lectures and 3 conversations

  • Each lecture has 6 questions

  • Each conversation has 5 questions

 

10 minutes break

 

Speaking 

17 minutes (4 tasks)

Writing 

50 minutes (2 tasks)

TOEFL One Month Listening Study Plan- Week 1

Here is the Week 1 strategy of the TOEFL one-month study plan. Dedicate this week to building strong skills that will help you in the exam.  

Days 

Strategy 

Day-1 

  • Start with completing one reading exercise daily. 

  • Your major focus should be anthropology & archaeology vocabularies. 

  • Take a practice test 

Day-2 

  • Finally, when have understood all the basics, increase the no. of exercise you practice in a day. 

  • Complete two reading exercises and one speaking practice test.  

Day-3 

  • By Day- 3, start incorporating 3 TOEFL reading exercises. 

  • Watch grammar videos 

  • Take a practice test and start reviewing your answer. 

Day-4 

  • Watch 3-4 speaking videos, This practice will help you improve your pronunciation. 

  • Take 1 speaking practice test and study astronomy vocabulary  

Day-5 

  • Finally, it's the day to start with the listening section. 

  • Take one practice test 

  • Some recommended materials are Magoosh, Barron’s, and Manhattan Prep

Day-6 

Keep in check that by Day 6 you should have all the following  practices in line: 

  • Complete 1 reading exercise 

  • Complete 1 speaking exercise 

  • Complete 1 listening exercise. 

  • Take a practice test of each section and review your answers carefully.

TOEFL One Month Listening Study Plan- Week 2 

Here is the Week 2 strategy of the one-month study plan. This week has focused on a strategy to increase your practice ability and start focusing on your vocabulary more. 

Days 

Strategy 

Day- 1

  • Now it is high time that you assign yourself to a full-length practice test.  

  • Additionally, Start incorporating marine biology vocabularies. 

Day- 2

  • Take 20 minutes, especially to work on flash cards. 

  • Write independent writing essays for “comparison and contrast” questions. 

  • Study botany vocabulary 

Day- 3

  • Write independent writing essays for “agree or disagree” statement 

  • Do 4 independent speaking questions and 2 ecology vocabulary 

Day- 4

  • Now it is time to write essays on “preference” question statements. 

  • Learn Geology Vocabulary   

Day- 5

  • Write 2 independent writing essays for the “Agree and Disagree” questions. 

  • Do 4 independent speaking questions 2. 

  • Learn ecology vocabulary.

Day- 6

By the end of this week: 

  • Write 2 TOEFL independent writing essays for the “Comparison and Contrast” questions. Do 4 questions of independent speaking questions 3. 

  • Practice vocabulary from flashcards.

TOEFL One Month Listening Study Plan- Week 3 

Here is the 3rd week strategy of the one-month study plan. Commit this week to practice under timed test conditions and increase the number of exercises from 2-3 to 4-5.

  • By this time set a target of completing 5 reading exercises per day. 

  • Complete 1 independent writing essay for the “If / Imaginary” questions.

Day-2 

  • Pick and Write 1 independent writing essay for the “If / Imaginary” questions.

  •  Complete 2 reading exercises. 

Day-3

  • Do 4 listening exercises. 

  • Practice 2 TOEFL integrated writing questions. 

  • Learn History Vocabulary

Day-4

  • Practice giving mock tests. 

  • Complete 2 reading and 2 listening exercises. 

  • Write one independent writing essay for the “If / Imaginary” questions

Day-5

  • Pick up and Practice 5 integrated speaking questions. 

  • Take down 4 independent writing essays for the “If / Imaginary” questions. 

  • Adapt the vocabulary learned in the previous days.

Day-6

  • Take down 3 listening exercises.

  •  Do 3 questions of integrated speaking question 5. 

  • Learn architecture vocabulary

TOEFL One Month Listening Study Plan- Week 4 

Here is the final week strategy for the TOEFL one-month study plan. By this time, you should have completed most of the exercises from reading, listening, speaking, and writing already. Devote this time mainly to reviewing and correcting mistakes you have made throughout the week.

  • Finish 3 listening exercises. 

  • Take down 4 questions of TOEFL speaking questions 1. 

  • Write 2 independent writing essays for the “Description and Explanation” questions.

Day-2

  • Finish 1 independent writing essay for the “Description and Explanation” questions. 

  • Complete 5 reading exercises. 

  • Complete 4 listening exercises. 

  • Complete 3 questions of integrated speaking questions 3.

  • Learn Earth Science Vocabularies

Day-3

  • Study 3 sample essays of “Description and Explanation” questions. 

  • The more you study, the more your writing skills improve. 

  • Do 5 questions of integrated speaking. 

  • Finish 3 listening exercises.

Day-4

Finish 5 listening exercises. Write 2 independent writing essays for the “Description and Explanation” questions. Do 3 questions of integrated speaking question 5. Complete 2 reading exercises.

Day-5

  • Revise, Review, and Correct all the vocabulary so far. 

  • Complete 3 listening, 3 reading, and 3 integrated speaking exercises. 

  • Take down 2 independent writing essays

Day-6

By the end of your practice session, make sure you have the following checkpoints:  

  •  Check your wrong answers and correct them 

  • Learn and improve in the weak areas 

  • Alter and amend everything that you have throughout the week.

  • Utilize the step-by-step approach

  • Independent Speaking Task v/s Integrated Speaking Task. 

Many people confuse Independent and Integrated Speaking Tasks which might be a hindrance in your performance as both sections demand different approaches. Understand the difference between Independent Speaking Tasks and Integrated Speaking Tasks. 

Under the Independent Speaking Task, you need to express your personal opinion on any topic based on your personal experience and knowledge. 

  • Note-Taking
